A brief summary: The JP Lures Series all are handmade from the same molds originally created by the original JP Lures maker, Joe Palacat. When Eric Koyanagi (maker of Koya Lures) was first learning how to produce lures, Joe was not just Eric's main inspiration but also his only mentor, teaching him everything he needed to know about lure making. Thanks to the strong ties between the two living legends, Joe gave Eric his blessing to start the re-production of JP Lures once again. These are 100% authentic and provided with the JP Lures signature on each lure as well as the original eye style and even some of the original insert paper that were also unique with his lures (which have limited availability) - All to give full due respect to the original creator as well as to prove his ultimate blessing for their production.**
The DS 483 (Better Known as the "Dog Shit" 483) was made in very limited numbers by Joe back in the day where only local fishermen were more in the know about them. In one of the first test runs with the original prototype, it caught a 483 lb Blue Marlin, hence its name. The head shape is a bulky and wide single tapered head with fairly steep front taper with a slighter nose angle than the Lunger shape and 12" sized skirt saddles. This is a heavy keel weighted head that gives it proper balancing in the water. The ability to offer the same JP Lures 483 but now produced by one of the world's current best lure makers is nothing but a luxury for all of us to have. After 16 years of being out of production, the chance is finally here again to add one of these rare JP shapes back in your spread.
