Koya Lures - Large 614
The Koya Lures Large 614 is an extremely popular head for targeting Marlin and has many tournament wins to its name. Taper on the head is a lot more subtle - very slight taper closer towards the nose. This is the 14" skirt saddle sized version of the 614 Series.
The Large 614 is one of Capt. Chris Donato's favorite Koya Lures. Here is what he had to say on the lure:
"The 614 is a great bait that could be run on just about every position. It has a lunger type action with an extremely aggressive pop and mole hill for its size. This lure packs a punch for being on the relatively smaller size range. Boats with smaller wakes or outboard boats will have an easy time running this lure. It also runs very straight and contributes to a pretty good hook up %. I ran mine on the short rigger and we caught a lot of fish on it, big and small ones. It could also be a great long corner bait and even a short corner lure in smaller sized spreads. It does like to have some angle so running it flat may not be the best. However, because of its aggressive nature, it could be run flat if you didn't have riggers. I like vinyl on this lure and a single hook positioned down and far back in the skirt. I've caught a lot of fish on mine in Kona and in Cabo. I think it's a bait that will handle most fisheries with billfish."
